Thought I'd let you know about my favourite fabric shop.
Economy fabrics is found at Holmewood near Chesterfield, just off junction 29 on the M1.
It's one of those glorious shops that's an Aladdin's cave of treasures, most costing £2pm!
This is Alan the owner, who, apart from his rubbish jokes, is a great bloke. His wife Andrea is often in the shop and her jokes aren't rubbish! If you need something specific they'll try and source it for you.
Everytime I visit the stock has changed, so there's always something to add to my stash! Alan buys stock every week so there's always something new, but when it's gone it's gone!
Usually there's a wide range of polycottons, plain and prints, there's fleece, at £2.50pm, some furnishing fabrics,
and sheers like organza and chiffon.
Depending on season, there's jersey and voiles and at Christmas lovely prints and sheers.
Alan also stocks McCalls patterns and some habadashery like zips and cottons.
Remnants vary in size, so are usually £1 pm
Economy fabrics is also well known in the area for ribbons! It's available in loads of colours, either on rolls for £2 or by weight from the buckets. just cut what you want and have it weighed, it's suprisingly cheap for a big bag full!
Every week I go and come home with more goodies!
These are just a small selection of the things I've made, most costing £2pm.
If you're ever in the area, call in and bag yourself a bargain! It's even worth the short diversion off the M1. Just tell them Tracey sent you and you'll be well looked after!
